March 2006Sweet Charity: For two years, Valerie Kane has volunteered at the Audio Studio for the Reading Impaired, recording materials for the visually handicapped. Recently, she was asked to join the Audio Studio’s Board of Directors. “I love the Studio and the work it does,” says Valerie, “and am happy to help in whatever capacity I can.” Asked what she enjoys most about her work there, she replies, “Once a year, at our Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, we have the opportunity to meet some of the people for whom we record. Their courage and optimism just amaze me, and I always walk away feeling I’ve received more than I could possibly have given.” Donations of used books to the Audio Studio’s annual fundraising book sale are welcome. Just bring them to the office by March 31 and Valerie will see that they are delivered to the Studio.
