Job Description: The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for providing corporate direction and for establishing an environment in which responsibility, achievement and mutual respect are priorities. The CEO directs the development of short- and long-range business plans and ensures that the company's structure, policies, operations and employees enable the company to meet its stated goals.

Background Information: Valerie Kane derived her interest in electronics from her father, who as a teen in the 1930s began working for a small Chicago start-up called Motorola. "Dad's workbench always held some TV or radio chassis in need of repair, and I was fascinated by the wiring and vacuum tubes. When other little girls were playing with dolls, I was learning how to operate a soldering iron, or going to the corner drugstore with Dad to test tubes." In October 1986, Ms. Kane renewed her love of electronics when she, along with her husband Alan, started a custom computer cable company they called Asia-Link. Away from the company, Ms. Kane enjoys golf, reading, and recording books on tape for the reading impaired. Most of all, she cherishes activities with her growing family of three children and six granchildren. She is also devoted to her two Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, Maggie and Buckley.
